Vintage 10th Mountain Division Downhill Snow Skis
c. 1958, 20th century
Wood, Metal
79 3/4”l x 2 3/4”w
Vintage Winter

An example of 10th Mountain Division ski equipment. These skis were made by the C.A. Lund Co. in Laconia N.H. for the US Army. They were painted white to act as camouflage during missions on snow covered terrain. Many 10th Mountain Division soldiers were actually recruited by the U.S. National Ski Patrol. Skis like these were monumental in the successful missions against the Germans in the Italian mountains. This set is in unused condition and marked 12-51 meaning they were made in December 1951. This is a very unique pair of 10th Mountain skis. They feature utilitarian military spec holes at the tips as well as backcountry travel skin attachments at the tails. A wonderful original white patina.
